Meet Our Crew

Amy Pickwick, President

In September 2001, Amy Pickwick relocated to the Washington, D.C. area from a three-year stay in Atlanta, Georgia, due to a career change. Originally from Frederick, Maryland, she found herself in a new area with few people that she knew. Within six months, Amy founded the Maryland Outdoor Club (MOC), to create a place for newcomers and natives to network. The MOC has been hugely successful; it has been featured in the Baltimore Sun newspaper, and has several thousand participants today.

Amy always had an interest in helping others and event planning. So, naturally, when girls in the MOC began to mention they didn't know many other women in the area to pal around with, Amy's creative energy mixed with her entrepreneurial talents led her to start Girls & the City.

GATC is Amy's vision to bring women together in a fun and exciting social setting, while offering premium online content and features. Her creativeness combined with her enthusiastic and reachable goals help build a strong foundation for a successful women's organization.

Amy graduated in 1998 with a Marketing degree from Salisbury University on Maryland's eastern shore. She currently resides in Columbia, Maryland.
